The 2026 KTM 85 SX 19/16 is a purpose-built junior motocross machine designed to bring young riders into the competitive arena with READY TO RACE performance straight from the crate. Developed with input from elite riders and engineered with race-bred technology, this bike delivers sharp handling, explosive power delivery, and confidence-inspiring control to push lap times and performance to the next level.
At its core is a high-revving 84.9 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 2-stroke engine paired with a 6-speed transmission that offers smooth, precise shifts and strong low- to mid-range torque. The Keihin PWK 28 carburetor provides crisp throttle response, while the engine’s lightweight design and optimized combustion dynamics help generate the kind of power that makes riders stand out at the start gate.
The heart of the chassis is a high-strength central tube, chrome-molybdenum steel frame coupled with a lightweight aluminum/polyamide glass-fiber subframe, delivering race-ready stiffness with agile handling and responsive feedback. Suspension duties are handled by a WP XACT AER 43 mm upside-down fork up front and a fully adjustable WP XACT PDS monoshock in the rear—both offering tunability for compression, rebound, and preload to suit rider skill, track conditions, and race demands.
The 19-inch front and 16-inch rear Excel wheels with MAXXIS MAXXCROSS MX-ST tires provide excellent traction, stability, and control across varied terrain, while powerful hydraulic disc brakes ensure consistent stopping performance. Premium components such as tapered aluminum handlebars and “no-dirt” footpegs give riders better leverage and control when charging through rough sections.
Radiators derived from KTM’s full-size motocross range keep the engine running cool lap after lap, and the thoughtfully designed airbox with easy tool-free access ensures maximum airflow and filter protection.
