At its heart, the KTM 85 SX features a high-revving 84.9 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 2-stroke engine mated to a smooth 6-speed transmission. The powerplant produces a strong, linear powerband perfect for junior racers learning to manage throttle control through corners, over jumps, and out of whoops. The Keihin PWK 28 carburetor delivers crisp throttle response, while compact engine design helps keep weight down, contributing to agile handling and quick direction changes.
Built around a lightweight yet stiff central tube, chrome-molybdenum steel frame paired with an aluminum/polyamide glass-fiber subframe, the 85 SX 17/14 offers dynamic, race-oriented handling. The WP XACT suspension setup brings confidence-boosting performance to every track. The 43 mm WP XACT AER front fork uses air-spring technology and can be adjusted with an air pump to fine-tune ride feel, while the WP XACT PDS rear shock allows full adjustment for preload, compression, and rebound.
