About Beau
Beau Beaton has been riding motorcycles since the age of three, but only recently started competing in race meetings after completing his trade. He has attracted plenty of attention in his first year of racing with his natural ability, hard-charging style, and accelerated achievements.
In November 2008, Beau rode Australia’s prestigious Phillip Island circuit on a 2003 999s Ducati. Racing against much higher powered machines at this Phillip Island meeting , he finished 2nd in the Victorian ‘D’ Grade Superbike Championship and won the final race in the National F1 BEARS Championship. This was his first road race meeting and here the journey began to establish him as a serious competitor on the national road racing circuit.
Beau’s next event was in February 2009 at Eastern Creek, NSW. Beau had his first ride of the North Coast V-Twins Race Team’s new Ducati 1198s in the opening round of the Formula Extreme NSW Cup and National F1 BEARS Race Series. He exceeded all expectations and made the others riders and teams sit up and take notice of “this rookie”. He had nine wins from nine starts and set a National F1 BEARS lap record of 1m35.5s, which had been held by Craig McMartin (eight times Australian Pro Twins Champion) since 2003. He also came within 0.6s of Craig’s Australian Pro Twins record.
Throughout the hectic 2009 season Beau has had the opportunity to race against some of Australia’s best and Internationally acclaimed riders including Glen Allerton, Craig Coxell, Scott Charlton, Rob Phillis, and Craig McMartin who has provided him with valuable guidance and support in fine tuning his racing skills.
2009 Career Achievements
Beau Beaton has been unrelenting and throughout his first year of road racing with some outstanding achievements. These include:
- National F1 BEARS Champion (first D Grade rookie and youngest person ever to win this title)
- Easter Cup Champion, McNamara Park, SA
- Australian Historic Series Champion, Australian Moto GP, Phillip Island, VIC
- NSW Superstock 1000 State Champion
- NSW D Grade Superbike State Champion
- NSW Superbike State Championships 4th Outright
- 2 x National F1 Bears lap records
With one round remaining in the Australian Superstock 1000 title later this year, Beau is 3rd outright and has held the lead of C and D Grade throughout the year.. He has started from the front row of the grid in every meeting of this series so far.
